In our system, the clay beads in the biofilter are replaced with plastic beads, which also serve as good bacterial nests (but are not natural).

In the introduction video, only one biofilter bucket is used. The filter is then integrated directly at the end of the gutters by placing a piece of mosquito net over the holes through which the water flows into the biofilter. (See version 2 drawing) This simpler setup is possible if your crop produces little fine matter (roots, leaves, gravel) that could pass through the mosquito net and clog the pump.
