L'humus pourra être récolté par tamisage ou après migration des lombrics et servir à enrichir un sol ou un substrat en pot.
Dans le système présenté, les lombrics établissent leur colonie dans la partie supérieure (les 15 premiers centimètres environ), l'humus créé reste dans la partie inférieure et le percolat qui est évacué dans le biofiltre s'enrichit en traversant l'humus. Ce type de lombricomposteur est destiné principalement à la récolte de percolat.
